Test Icicles - (almost) discog

i dont care what people say, test icicles were brilliant. dev always claimed they were shit..well i think he's getting that mixed up with lightspeed champion...

just look at them, if they didn't have some kind of contract with american apparel

i'd like to think they inspired all those kids wearing dunks, grey hoodies and black skinny jeans, not to mention dj headphones. i was certainly a clone.

Swanton Bombs - Smoke Over Swanton (Demo) (2009)

I saw Girls last night, and they were mediocre. I mean their kinda samey, I'm sure if someone did some kind of analytical search to find out the most frequent words in their song they would be: Love, Heart and Alone. It got a little tiresome.

Anyway The highlight of the gig was the support act Swanton Bombs. After I could have gone home happy without catching Girls.

Their offering free Cd's at their gigs, this is it. Proper Rock N' Roll or something.

The Spits - Volume IV (2009)

Forth album by Seattle based band The Spits.

A real punk rock record, sounds a little like The Ramones to me, if I still skated, this would be on my ipod for sure.

The Gris Girs - Live At The Creamery (2009)

The Gris Gris are one of my favourite bands and I recently found out the broke up without even rightfully touring the UK.

This is a high quality recording of one of their last shows and can be bought on vinyl from Birdman Records for $14.

Some ex members played in the rock n roll adventure kids, and one ex member currently plays in the dodos.

Highly recommended.

False Jesii - EP's (2009)

Self released "bedroom punk" apparently, by a nineteen year old Australian living in Beijing (correct me if I'm wrong). I wont call it bedroom punk that just sounds stupid and this is nothing like what you could imagine bedroom punk sounding like.

Standard noise pop. In the vein of Little Girls, Wavves and that kind of thing.

Both of his EP are free to download via his Myspace.

The Keggs - To Find Out (1967)

I found this two track EP via the invisible man blog a few months ago and it sounded amazing.

As expected it was, and it's left me wanting more, "primitive garage pop band" may be something that springs to mind. They only managed to press 75 of these, I wish I had one.

Toro Y Moi - Demos

Toro Y Moi, is the brainchild of South Carolinan Chaz Bundick, a 23-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist whiz-kid and graphic design graduate.

Panda Bear, AC, Deerhunter all come to mind while listening to this.

Washed Out - High Times (2009)

you know all this "beach" and "tropical" kind of tag going round, that seems to have been created early this year? many bands have been credited to have this kind of sound, yet so few really get repeated listens from me.

Washed Out are one of those exceptions, from the first song I heard - "belong" i knew instantly was going to love it.

Could easily be in my top 10 of the year.

Can be found on uber blog pdd
